Had a 2D1N staycay with my friend in late-March 2024, and we tried out The Barracks Hotel Sentosa for the first time! It’s definitely a different experience compared to Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa which we usually go to – except that it is now undergoing upgrading works from Q4 2023 to Q4 2024.
Location + Getting There
Located in Sentosa, the nearest monorail station is Imbiah Station. After which, a short walk (5~10mins) will bring you to the hotel. You can also take the Sentosa Bus A or Bus B – the Amara Sanctuary Hotel bus stop is the nearest stop to the hotel.
Based on Google Maps, the hotel is located near the building where KidZania is, which is a walking distance to Beach Station. I didn’t try walking that way though, so I can’t comment on how to crossover to that area, whether there’s any shortcuts, or what’s the terrain like (especially for those with big luggage pieces).
The Barracks Hotel Sentosa is also located near a few other hotels such as Village Hotel Sentosa (right next door and in front of the Mess Hall), Oasia Resort Sentosa, Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa, and The Outpost.
There is also a 7-11 convenience store nearby that is open 24/7, located at the Mess Hall (approx. 3mins walk away).

Lobby / Hotel Entrance
The check in counter is located in a welcome room near The Living Room – the middle of the rectangular 2-storey hotel, where the lift is, and is where breakfast is served at. There are signs that can guide you to where the welcome room can be found.
To get to your room, card access is needed to pass the gate (+1 for security despite the room being on the ground level!)

Our room was on the first level since it has direct pool-access. The service was very personal – we were ushered to our room from the front desk, given a tour around the room, and introduced to the amenities.
The Room
We stayed in the Premier Room with Pool Access. The room has a bit of an Old World charm mixed in with modern luxury, and comes with a king-sized bed, study desk, coffee-and-tea-making area, and a spacious bathroom that has a door leading to the pool-access area. In the pool-access area, there’s a sofa and table to lounge at. We were pretty lucky to get the corner room, so our end of the pool had a cozy private corner for the jacuzzi!

Note that the AC plugs in the room are all fitted with international plugs – so no need to bring your own. Wifi is provided (password given upon check-in). On either bedside tables, you can find the controls for the lights and air conditioning, the telephone, and a set of Marshall speakers.

Bathroom
The bathroom is spacious, and has a shower area separate from the bathtub area (it’s a stone tub!), and a separate area where the Japanese toilet bowl is (with buttons on the side!). The shower area has a hand-held shower and rain shower, while the bathtub comes with a handheld shower and tap.

The water pressure from the tap is great and fills up the tub really quickly! On the bathtub tray, there are a few bottles of soap, a loofah, and a tub of Himalayan bath salts. The neat part: there’s also a phone stand! So you can rest your phone on it and watch your K-Drama or YouTube while enjoying your soak.

There are 2 sinks, with a small closet at each end of the vanity sink. In either closets you can find the bathrobes, bathroom slippers, ironing board & iron set, hairdryer (in a pouch), hangers, an umbrella, and the safe.

Do note that the door leading to the pool is lockable and there is a wooden sliding door which you can utilise for more privacy. On the other hand, the side of the bathroom which links to the bedroom area only has a wooden sliding door that is not lockable.
The View
There isn’t a window in the room per se, but the door to the pool also serves as one! It has a glass in the middle, so you can choose to look out the room to the pool, from the comforts of the indoors.

Amenities
The coffee area sits atop a chest – at the bottom is the minibar, and on top sits the Nespresso machine with 4 capsules provided, an ice bucket, glasses, some small bottles of alcohol, bottles of tea leaves, and drinking water stored in glass bottles. The minibar had ginger ale, tonic water, and Coca Cola. For those of you new to such a layout, the front rectangular portion of the top area can be pulled down into an extended table top area and provides easier access to the Nespresso machine and the other drinks.

Gym / Pool
I didn’t have a chance to check out the gym but apparently it’s located in The Village Hotel Sentosa (most of the hotels nearby are related brands). The pool is great though! There are beach towels available at the side, and plenty of beach chairs along the length of the pool. The place is very well maintained and you can also take a seat at the side of the pool and soak your legs in, without getting your bottoms wet.

Breakfast
Breakfast for two came with the room, and is served at The Living Room. There are two options for the breakfast – Western or Asian. You’ll be asked for your breakfast choice upon check-in/the day before, so that the hotel is able to prepare as needed. Each option comes with a starter, a main course, and a fruit platter for dessert. Kids meals are also available in both Western or Asian meals.
Indoor and outdoor seating are both available. I personally prefer the indoor seating since The Living Room has glass walls, allowing you to enjoy the outside scenery (the pools and greenery) while being enjoying the air-conditioned indoors.
