Ramada by Wyndham (Zhongshan Park)

Took a 1-night staycaytion again!🙈 This time, I gave Ramada by Wyndham Singapore at Zhongshan Park a try! Booked this via Traveloka and used the SingaporeRediscover Vouchers (SRV) (issued for Singaporeans to support local tourism businesses) for this stay!

Location

Ramada Hotel is located in Singapore at Zhongshan Park. It’s within the Balestier area – somewhere between Novena and Toa Payoh MRT. The hotel itself is located right next to Zhongshan Mall – there’s even a direct entrance to the hotel from the mall, but due to Covid-19 measures, this shortcut was closed during our stay.

Zhongshan Mall itself is a smaller mall with an office tower. Plenty of food choices here – we tried Stackz (mmm pizza and pancakes yummm) but there’s also McDonald’s, Starbucks, etc. Oh and there’s a FairPrice Finest supermarket upstairs! There are a lot more food choices along Balestier Road, but we didn’t head out to explore much since we wanted to spend more time enjoying the room 😆

Getting here

To get here, you can take a bus from Novena / Toa Payoh / Braddell, and alight at (i.e. directly in front of) Zhongshan Mall. Zhongshan Mall also has a shuttle bus service that you can check out here.

To get to the hotel lobby from the bus stop, there are 2 ways after you head into the mall:
(A) Shortcut: an entrance located at the lift lobby near HockHua / near the small atrium. Just go straight from the entrance of the mall (facing the main road, where the bus stop is), then turn left. You’ll see it on your right after awhile.

(B) Especially if you cannot use the shortcut (we couldn’t, due to the COVID-19 safe management restrictions): follow the instructions in (A), but you’ll need to head further in to the mall (i.e. keep walking past the shortcut) towards Subway at the corner, then turn right. There’s a Pet Lovers Centre and a 7-11 there. This route will lead you to the office tower’s entrance, where you can exit (you’ll be at the mall/office tower pick up and drop-off point) and take about 20 steps to the hotel’s lobby!

The Room

We took the “City View Room with SGD20 Lunch Credit” booking (except that we didn’t redeem the $20 lunch credit since we’d rather eat in the mall or along Balestier Road). Picked the “1 large bed” option too 😀

The View

FIRST AND FOREMOST, THE BEST THING ABOUT THE ROOM IS THE WHOLE SOFA/LEDGE BY THE WINDOW!!! (I’m a sucker for such things). Camped here all afternoon 😊😊

Bathroom

No bathtub, just a shower stall with both a rain shower and a handheld shower head. The water pressure is great!

Body gel and conditioning shampoo are provided, as well as dental kits (toothbrush with thin bristles + toothpaste), cotton buds, shaving kit and a shower cap. Although Singapore’s tap water is generally safe to drink, there is a sticker above the sink that indicates that the tap water is safe for drinking (good reassurance for travelers anyway!). I’m guessing that there’s an in-house filter installed – so at first the water looks really cloudy but it’s just filled with tiny air bubbles and will clear up soon enough 🙂

Room Amenities

Just gonna do an image dump since these pictures can speak for itself 😛

Closet

Other random stuff I can recall 🤔

  • There’s a closing time for housekeeping (Well I called at 10.04pm and it was closed 😆). So once housekeeping is closed, you might need to head down to the lobby to collect any extra items
  • There’s a Business Centre, bar & lounge, and restaurant at Level 1; Ballrooms/function rooms are at Level 2
  • A very family-friendly place. Also wheelchair-accessible, I believe
  • Check-in is at 2pm
  • Check-out is at 12pm

* Info accurate as at Apr 2021
